EL PASO, TX — Parkland High School welcomed three-time NBA champion Danny Green to campus on August 8, 2026, for a special visit with Matador students, athletes, and community members.
The event was coordinated by Parkland Boys Basketball Head Coach Jeremy Vanley to provide local youth with direct insight from an elite professional athlete. During the gathering inside the gym, Green addressed the audience, speaking on topics such as personal dedication, perseverance, handling adversity, and maintaining focus in both athletics and academics.
Following his talk on court, Green took a seat in the bleachers alongside students for group photo opportunities and spent time meeting attendees.
Highlights of the Event
Keynote Remarks: Danny Green shared lessons from his 15-season NBA career—which includes championship titles with the San Antonio Spurs, Toronto Raptors, and Los Angeles Lakers—highlighting the discipline required to reach the highest level of competition.
Student-Athlete Engagement: Attendees were able to interact directly with the veteran shooting guard in an intimate gymnasium setting.
Coach's Perspective: Head Coach Jeremy Vanley organized the visit to motivate the Matadors heading into the upcoming school year and athletic seasons.
