The Parkland High School Choir is hitting all the right notes this season! Under the exceptional leadership of Choir Director Ms. Eun-Mee Garza, the Varsity Mixed, Varsity Treble, and Varsity Tenor/Bass Choirs earned top honors at both the District Pre-UIL and UIL Choir Contests.
The Matador Choirs represented Parkland with distinction, delivering flawless performances that earned three Superior ratings on stage and in Sight Reading. Their consistency across the board resulted in a clean sweep of all three Sweepstakes awards.
A Standing Ovation for Sight Reading
The Matadors didn't just meet the standard—they set it. During the UIL evaluation, one judge was particularly moved by the group's technical proficiency, remarking:
“This choir provided the best sight-reading I have heard over these two days of the UIL Contest.”
This high praise is a testament to the students' relentless determination and the expert guidance of Ms. Garza, who has fostered a culture of outstanding teamwork and musicality.
The Road Ahead
While the trophy case is getting full, the work isn't over yet. The Parkland Choirs are maintaining their momentum as they prepare for two major upcoming milestones:
UIL State Competition: Taking place next week, where they look to continue their winning streak.
WorldStrides Heritage National Choir Competition: The Matadors will travel to Anaheim, California, this May to compete on the national stage.
Congratulations to Ms. Garza and our incredible vocalists for their hard work and passion. We are proud to have you representing PHS!
Go, Matador Choir!
