It has been a season of blistering pace and grit for the Parkland High School Track and Field program. As the dust settles on the track, we are incredibly proud to celebrate the hard work, sweat, and determination of both our boys' and girls' teams.
From the first starting gun of the spring to the final stretch of the district meet, these athletes have represented the Matadors with heart and excellence.
🏃♀️ Going the Distance: Regional Qualifiers
A massive shout-out is in order for our Girls’ Relay Teams. Through seamless handoffs and explosive speed, both relay squads have officially punched their tickets to the Regional Championships. Their ability to work as a cohesive unit has set them apart from the competition, and we can’t wait to see them take on the best in the region.
🥇 Individual Excellence: Sophia Balmer
While the team success has been soaring, we also have a historic individual performance to celebrate. Sophia Balmer delivered a masterclass in hurdles this week, securing the Area Championship title in the 300-meter hurdles.
Not only did Sophia take home the gold, but she also pushed her limits to set a new Personal Record (PR) in the event. Her technique and stamina through the final turn proved why she is one of the top hurdlers in the state.
"Success isn't given, it's earned on the track, in the weight room, and in the moments when no one is watching. Congratulations to all our athletes for earning their spot in the history books this season!" — Parkland Athletics
Good luck to all our qualifiers as they move on to Regionals! Go Matadors!
