Student VASE Project

Parkland Pride is soaring as we celebrate a monumental achievement in our Visual Arts department!

We are thrilled to announce that Parkland’s very own Vanessa Vazquez has been named a State Qualifier for the Visual Arts Scholastic Event (VASE). Her stunning sculpture has navigated the rigorous regional judging process to earn a spot among the best student artwork in the entire state.

The Masterpiece: A Moment of Wonder

Vanessa’s qualifying piece is a breathtaking 22-inch high sculpture featuring a majestic white tiger in a moment of gentle curiosity.

  • Intricate Detail: From the textured fur to the hand-painted stripes, the craftsmanship displays a level of skill well beyond her years.

  • A Delicate Balance: The contrast between the powerful, large-scale predator and the delicate, vibrant monarch butterfly perched on its paw captures a beautiful narrative of peace and nature.

  • Scale and Presence: Standing nearly two feet tall, the sculpture commands attention through both its physical size and its emotional depth.

"To see a student translate such a complex vision into a 22-inch physical form is truly inspiring," says the Parkland Fine Arts Department. "This isn't just a project; it's a testament to Vanessa's dedication and artistic voice."

What is VASE?

The Visual Arts Scholastic Event is the premier competition for high school artists in Texas. Students are not only judged on their technical proficiency and originality but also on their ability to articulate their creative process during a formal interview.

Advancing to the state level means Vanessa’s work is in the top tier of student art across the region, representing the highest standards of creativity and technical execution.
